Hey all. There is some BIG news that you should know about…

NEW ALBUM

We started tracking our new album this week. We arrived at the Sonic Temple and found our engineer/co-producer, Mike Fraser, hanging skull and crossbones flags all over the place. Mike's an amazing guy, making this recording really fun and he seems to know what he's doing. After all, he did record these bands called AC/DC, Aerosmith and Metallica, and I guess they're alright…

SXSW IN AUSTIN, TX

In mid-March we're heading to SXSW (South By Southwest) in Austin, Texas. Looks like this may the first of several trips into the US in 2012! Following our shows with Flogging Molly in New Jersey and Virginia in the fall we signed on with Val Wolfe with The Agency Group’s Los Angeles office for US bookings.

Finally, we are happy to announce Eva George as the house contest winner! She's just as pumped as us and I've heard she's already begun preparations: boarding up the windows, padding the walls with blankets and hiding anything breakable.

Well hello there.

It’s been a while since our last update. So I figured I’d bring you up to speed with what’s been going down in Stanland…

We had such an amazing time on tour with Flogging Molly. What an incredible band, and just a fantastic group of people. We’re also no longer new-comers to the USA, and we can’t thank the fans enough for welcoming us to open the gigs and some of you even knew our tunes! We really hope to get down there again as soon as possible.

So I’ve become a scholar of clearing the cobwebs outta my head after Nova Scotia Music Week every year, and this year was no different. I definitely wasn’t the only one who woke up on their keys with their boots still on. We won the award for “Best Music Video” for “Ship To Shore”! A big thanks goes out to the director, Aram Kouyoumdjian and the rest of the crew and cast. All the extras who came down and acted like complete pros, and looked like they’ve been doing this kind of thing for years.

I’ve been sworn to secrecy at this point, but hang tight!

US Dates with Flogging Molly

Psst … that’s me getting your attention, but also the sound my beer can makes when I open it, my droogies….

Since I’m finally taking a minute to have a cold one and look back on the amazing tour we just had…so many times..a nice Ontario run with Gentleman Husbands was just what we needed to get our grits in gear for the long drives and plentiful shows we had lined up for the month. Those guys are some top notch dudes and we gigged some top notch venues. It’s always so nice to do the 401-run for you guys!!

Then we did some shows in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland with The Trews, while completely behaving ourselves the whole way… Everyone was so great, and we left Newfoundland wanting to never leave. Big thanks to our buds Megan and Jason for puttin us up in their island paradise and treatin us poor bastards so very well! As well as all the people who came out to the shows and had a good time and made us feel so very welcome… we won’t forget it!…

Which brings me to the business part of this blargg.. We’ve got some new tour dates coming up with a little band you might have heard of called Flogging Molly…

Our van didn’t break down!

Hey Everyone,

It was nice to see some new AND familiar faces on the road this past month! We had a great tour through Ontario and Quebec with our friends Gloryhound. We made many new friends in a multitude of different cities.

Some highlights included:

- getting to frig around with a weatherman’s green screen in Kingston;

- an insane audience in Barrie (love you guys!);

- and of course, a jam packed house at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto!

We are also VERY pleased to announce that OUR VAN DIDN’T BREAK DOWN!

Many thanks to you crazy huns who came out to our shows and spurred us on every night, in what proved to be a short, yet EXHAUSTING romp through the heartland.

T’is the season for awkward sweaters, ill fitting pants, family, friends and reflection on the past year. This has been a great year for the band, taking us from coast to coast a few times.

OK. Back to reflecting…

We’re thankful to have made so many new friends and to have seen so many great places in this great country we call Canada. We’ve had both memorable shows and mishaps (the whole van breakdown fiasco stands out in this case!).

Thanks to all the contributors of our “Bring Us Home” campaign who were able to come out to the Carleton recently for a special “Thank You” acoustic show! It was a lot of fun to put together, and perhaps there will be more performances in this style come the new year…

Thanks for making this such a great year! We couldn’t have done it without you.

“Bring Us Home” Goal Met!

We’re extremely thankful to everyone who contributed to our “Bring Us Home” campaign and are pleased to report that, as of Sunday night, we have met and actually surpassed our goal of raising the funds to cover our tow and repair bills. We’re on our way home!

After some thought and discussion, we’ve decided to take the surplus funds from this campaign and donate them to an excellent charity called MusiCounts on behalf of our fans and supporters. MusiCounts is a music education charity which helps to keep music alive in schools across Canada through programs like Band Aid musical instrument grants for schools in need.

Again, thank-you from the bottom of our hearts. To everyone who contributed, we’ll be back in touch shortly regarding a thank-you party in Halifax.

It’s been amazing week. See you at Nova Scotia Music Week in Yarmouth!
